The Company first started trading from the current Wisbech site in summer 2002. It was established from day one as a pallet network operator working with the TPN network, then based in Rugby.

Operating three vehicles, two local delivery and collection vehicles, and one articulated vehicle for night trunking, it serviced the majority of the PE postcodes for TPN. The company then employed one administrator and three drivers and would handle 20–30 pallets a day.

As a tenant at its Wisbech base, the business had limited resources, one rented forklift truck, and all operations were carried out in an ‘all weather’ environment.

Customer service has been the buzzword from the first day, and the business along with the overall TPN network has enjoyed organic growth by delivering high service standards in an increasingly competitive industry.

OUR OPERATION

Since 2002, the Pallet Network (Anglia), PNA, has now grown to a fleet size today totalling 25 vehicles, delivering and collecting c4100 pallets a week, all of this made possible by the 43 members of staff we employ. TPN growth over this period has seen the network move central hubs four times, and now has an additional northern hub and another servicing the south in Brackmills. Our own operating site was purchased from our original landlord some years ago, which allowed us to develop the site to our own operational needs.

All load transhipping is now carried out by a fleet of electric forklift trucks, in specially designed and constructed buildings. Much of the electricity used to recharge the forklift batteries are produced by our onsite 6Kw wind turbine to minimise the environmental impact. As the vehicle fleet size grew, with the need to keep them clean, a drive-through vehicle wash was installed in early 2013, using a fully enclosed water recycling plant so nothing goes to waste.

Working within a stable network, albeit growing proportionally faster than any other network in the UK, has enabled PNA to benefit from similar growth by delivering unrivalled customer service.
